Frequently Asked Questions

Who owns my website?
You own your website. You have full copyright and this is marked clearly on the bottom of every web page.
Can I have Email Updating but have my website hosted elsewhere?
Yes Email Updating works on websites hosted anywhere on any server. You can have a website hosted anywhere you like, and the advantage of Email Updating is that you pay a small monthly fee to update your website anytime, and you can do it by sending an Email!
How long does it take to develop a website?
The initial construction usually takes between 2-3 days from receipt of the company logo or artwork. Once the website pages are "built" it usually takes a client 2-3 weeks to complete the words, and get photos loaded into the website, but this can be reduced to a day or so if you are committed to the job! Once a website is complete in the development location, it takes less than an hour to "go live".
I've been quoted $***.00 for a website from another company. How competitive are your prices?
Blue Design Website prices are very competitive. Basically the three components to a website are:
  1. Design & Development - you are basically buying skilled labour here
  2. Domain Name - an annual or monthly charge similar to your annual P O Box fee
  3. Monthly Hosting - the cost to keep a website live 24 hours 7 days
Hosting: At the time of writing this comparison, one large New Zealand ISP charges $25.00 + GST and another charges $29.95 + GST. Blue Design Websites cost only $25.00 + GST per month.

Domain Names are charged differently depending on who is charging and what for. Basically though, normal or "average" pricing for a domain name is: $39.00 - 49.50 per annum for the actual name and $7.00 - $13.00 per month for DNS Services and/or e-mail forwarding or a holding page.
What happens if I want more pages or more features later on?
At the time of purchase, you and Blue Design Websites will agree on a certain number of pages, and the features agreed as necessary to get the project under way. Upon publication of the website, Blue Design Websites has completed the initial contract, and all clients will be happy!

It is quite common however, that after a website has been developed an owner will find more ways to use the new technology and require additional work from us. This may be in the form of additional pages, enhanced graphics, more photos/pictures, or more advanced features like for example an Order Form, Database work or a Shopping Cart.

Additional Work is charged at the hourly rate current at the time, and additional features are charged for at the current price.

There is no disadvantage to having secondary work completed at a later date. In fact we always encourage our clients to "start small" and develop more at a later stage. It's always better to have a smaller project looking good and completed rather than having a bigger project half finished or "Under Construction".
